Introduction Introduction Methodology Results Discussion References ABCB1 is one of the integral membrane adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-binding cassette (ABC) transporter proteins superfamily. To date, the human ABC transporter superfamily contains 49 members that classified into seven subfamilies (ABCA to ABCG). These transport proteins are localized to various membranes of cellular organelles (except for ABCE and ABCF), where they function as ATP dependent, and unidirectional transmembrane efflux pumps to various endogenous and exogenous compounds (1-7). Being efflux pumps, these transporters exert a wide variety of physiological roles including protective, excretory and regulatory functions.
