To date, the human ABC transporter superfamily contains 49 members that classified into seven subfamilies (ABCA to ABCG). These transport proteins are localized to various membranes of cellular organelles (except for ABCE and ABCF), where they function as ATP dependent, and unidirectional transmembrane efflux pumps to various endogenous and exogenous compounds (1-7).
