Introduction Introduction Materials and methods Results Discussion References Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) pose a significant public health problem worldwide, causing considerable morbidity and mortality among people of all age groups [1]. Children are on average infected two to three times more frequently than adults. [2]. There are more than 200 respiratory viruses that can cause ARIs. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), human rhinovirus (HRV), human metapneumovirus (HMPV), human parainfluenza virus (PIV), human enterovirus (EV), influenza virus (IFV), human coronavirus (CoV), adenovirus (ADV), and human bocavirus (BoV) are the most common viral agents associated with ARIs, accounting for around 70 % of ARIs [3, 4].
